How to import a SCORM quiz into Blackboard Learn

Higher-ed standard, also used in workforce education. Blackboard Learn supports SCORM 1.2 — SwiftSCORM's standard export format — so a knowledge-check quiz built from your training materials imports in a few clicks and reports scores straight to the gradebook.

Step by step

  1. In the course Content area, choose Build Content → Content Package (SCORM). (In Blackboard Ultra — the default for new courses — there is no Build Content menu: on the Course Content page select the + (plus) to add content → Create → SCORM package → Upload SCORM package instead.)
  2. Upload the SwiftSCORM .zip.
  3. Set 'Grade SCOs' to Yes and points possible to 100 so the percentage maps directly.
  4. Make the item available and test with the student preview.
  5. Scores appear in the Grade Center column Blackboard creates automatically.

Good to know

Blackboard grades the package's reported raw score. SwiftSCORM reports 0–100, so 100 points possible gives a 1:1 mapping. Note: these labels (Build Content, Grade Center) are Blackboard Learn Original; in Blackboard Ultra you add SCORM via the Course Content + tile → Create → SCORM package, enable Grade SCORM, and the gradebook is called simply Gradebook.

LMS interfaces evolve — if a label has moved in a recent Blackboard Learn release, the flow stays the same: add content → choose SCORM → upload the zip → enable score tracking.
