Frequently asked questions
Short answers, with links to deeper guides. Still stuck? Email hello@swiftscorm.com.
What exactly does SwiftSCORM do?
Two things. First, you turn your own document or slide deck into editable training in about a minute. You can also preview SwiftSCORM's locked publisher-course library, with assignment and export opening only for registered delivery-ready releases. Then you send eligible training by link, and a private dashboard shows who completed it, their score, pass/fail, and the date, with a certificate for each learner. If you already run an LMS, you can export your own courses as SCORM 1.2 on every plan, including Free; paid plans add export of approved library releases. See the step-by-step tutorial.
Do I need an LMS to use this?
No. That is the point. Most small teams have no learning management system, so SwiftSCORM hosts the training for you: you share a link, learners take it in any browser with no login or app, and you get back audit-ready proof on your dashboard. The SCORM export is there only for teams that already run an LMS and want the course inside it.
What is SCORM, and why do I need it?
SCORM is the standard packaging format corporate Learning Management Systems use to run a course and record results (who completed it, their score, pass/fail). It's how training becomes an auditable compliance record. SwiftSCORM produces SCORM 1.2, a widely supported version, and can also export cmi5 / xAPI for newer systems (the Advanced option on the export screen).
Which file types can I upload?
PowerPoint (.pptx), Word (.docx), PDF, plain text/Markdown, Zoom/Teams transcripts (.vtt, .srt), and, on the hosted app, audio/video recordings (mp4, m4a, mp3, wav, webm, mov) up to 25 MB.
Which LMSs does it work with?
Any system that accepts SCORM 1.2, a widely supported e-learning standard. We publish step-by-step import guides for Moodle, TalentLMS, Docebo, Cornerstone, SAP Litmos, Absorb, LearnUpon, and Blackboard. The exporter is tested with an independent local SCORM runtime; verification on external LMSs and SCORM Cloud is still in progress, so always test the import in your own LMS before a wide rollout.
Do I need to be technical?
No. If you can upload a file and send a link, you can use it. The app walks you through three steps, upload, review, and send, and there's a guided tour the first time you open it.
Can I edit the AI's questions?
Yes, and you should. After generation, every question opens in an editor: change the wording, options, correct answer, and explanation, delete questions, or add your own. Nothing is exported until you're happy with it.
How much does it cost?
Try it free, no credit card required. The free tier includes 2 hosted courses, up to 5 learner invites each (10 named learners total), 3 AI quiz generations per day, and printable certificates and audit packets. Solo is $29/mo: unlimited hosted courses, unlimited AI quiz generations, 5 interactive AI-course builds per month, and up to 50 named learners. Team is $79/mo: up to 250 named learners, unlimited interactive AI-course builds, video and Zoom import, and automated renewal reminders. All plans are flat, no per-seat fees. Prefer annual billing? Pay for 10 months and get 12: Solo $290/yr, Team $790/yr.
Can I make the quiz in Spanish or another language?
Yes. Choose the language before generating, and the whole quiz, including the player buttons and the results screen, is produced in that language. You can also export an English quiz and an auto-translated Spanish copy together, which helps you train workers in a language they understand, consistent with OSHA's guidance.
Is it accessible (Section 508 / WCAG)?
The quiz player supports keyboard navigation, screen-reader announcements, visible focus, and reduced-motion preferences, important for government, education, and any organization with accessibility requirements.
What happens to my documents?
They're processed in memory to generate your quiz and are not stored on SwiftSCORM servers or used to train AI models by default; our AI provider may retain API inputs for a limited period under its own policy. The SCORM package is assembled in your browser. Full details on the privacy page.
Who grades the exams, and can a learner fake a pass?
Scoring happens on our server, not in the learner's browser, so a learner can't edit the page to report a pass they didn't earn. Want each person to also get the questions and answer options in a different order? Turn on 'Shuffle per learner' in the classic builder (swiftscorm.com/app/classic). The pass/fail on your dashboard is the graded result our server computed.
Do learners get a certificate?
Yes, on every plan including Free. When a learner passes, they get a printable completion certificate with their name, score, and date. When you invited them by name, that name is locked onto the certificate; anonymous link takers type their own.
What happens to my records if I cancel?
Your completion records stay yours. Before you cancel, export them; the audit packet export is included on every plan, including Free. You can request deletion of your data at any time; see the privacy page for details. We will not delete your records out from under you the moment a plan lapses.
